About the Artists

Our experience of working in the medium of wood spans over thirty yers. We both showed an early intrest in art and in creating things. Mark began working with wood when he was just tall enough to stand at a jigsaw and credits his maternal grandfater as one of his strongest influences. His formal training in wood began at teh New York State University at Oswego. From there he presented his portfolio and was accepted into the wood program at the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious School for American Craftsman. After a two year academic/training experience at RIT, Mark's entrepreneurial spirit beckoned and he began working full-time in the medium of wood. That was in 1980, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Sharon has always had a creative bent, whether it be in the drawing and painting arena, clay, or paper and fabric. She met Mark when she was doing double duty pursuing a college degree and working full-time. She was introduced to the medium of wood by Mark more than twenty years ago and began working with him in 1982, shortly before they were married. We have been working side-by-side ever since.

Working together 24/7, running a business, and maintaining a relationship presents its own unique set of challenges. We are fortunate enough to always have a thirst for creating, entrepreneurial enough to always look for new ways to enhance our business, and patient enough to help us through life's ups and downs (a good deal of humor helps too!). When we aren't working, we indulge in our other passions in life: family & friends, gardening, bike riding, and cooking.
