Jewelry Armoire II (#695) – A scaled-down version of the “Jewelry Armoire I”, this petite chest incorporates many of the details of the larger Armoire: the soft coves, the contrasting light and dark wood combinations, and the furniture elements. This handmade Jewelry Armoire is the perfect size for anyone who does not have the space for the much larger two-door Jewelry Armoire I.

The back and sides of the main cabinet are made of a light colored figured Maple. This allows for greater contrast in the other elements of the piece: the rich medium-toned woods used in the top, door, and bottom carcass of the Armoire. There are three material choices for the top/door/bottom carcass combination:

1). Pommele Kawazingo (as shown above) – An exciting and unusually figured wood which we have been keeping in our “secret stash” till now. This wood, in the Bubinga family (an African wood), is a deep auburn color with dark veining throughout which creates a pattern of chaotic swirls and waves.

2). Pelin Burl (see #696 Necklace Armoire) – This gorgeous and extremely rare material is in the Camphor or Laurel family of evergreens. Normally more blond in color, the Pelin Burl ranges from a light coral to a deep cinnamon hue and has a figure of irregularly shaped circles that resemble bubbles with tiny dark pips and veining throughout – stunning!

3). Pommele Sapele – A honey-colored veneer, Sapele is the species (native to Africa) and “Pommele” refers to the characteristic of the grain – a uniform pattern which looks like it has been pummeled by raindrops. (To see a sample of this wood, go to the “Specialty Box” category; Sapele Silver Chest. The top is Pommele Sapele.)

All three of these materials are contrasted by softly curved edges of Curly Maple (Maple with a ribbon figure to it). Curly Maple handles and legs complete the exterior.

The interior of the Jewelry Armoire II has a series of five velvet-lined drawers with removable partitions and a small niche for holding miscellaneous jewelry. The drawers have Curly Maple fronts on Ash drawers with Black Walnut handles. The inside of the door has a series of earring display holders. All of these elements contrast nicely with the rich Mahogany interior. There is also a larger drawer in the bottom portion of the Armoire that is velvet-lined with partitions that can be removed or reconfigured to suit your changing needs.
