Jewelry Armoire I (#690) - We fell in love with this very rare Karelian Birch Burl material the moment we discovered it and knew it needed to be used in this special piece!

Found in Finland and Russia, this veneer is characterized by its creamy background with chocolate teardrop flecking in a random pattern throughout. The two doors of the Armoire are “book-matched”. This is a woodworking technique whereby two sequential sheets of veneer are laminated so that one sheet is the mirror image of the opposite sheet. The American Black Walnut accents in the softly curved legs as well as in the “pierced veneer” doors, top, and body of the Armoire offer a striking contrast to the flecking in the Karelian Birch Burl. The Black Walnut and Karelian Birch Burl combination is continued on the small drawers inside the cabinet. Five velvet-lined partitioned drawers and a necklace carousel are set against a rich Mahogany interior. There is also a large velvet-lined bottom drawer with partitions that can be removed or reconfigured to hold various sizes of bracelets, watches, brooches, etc.

This handmade Jewelry Armoire is available in this material in limited quantity and is therefore a special collector’s piece.
